WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will look to stay on top of the West Group in the USL Jägermeister Cup when they host Spokane Velocity FC at 7 p.m. Saturday at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium.
“Back to the top in the Jägermeister Cup, that’s the only thing on my mind,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Hailstorm come into the match having won four straight in all competition, a streak that extends to six with the inclusion of their penalty shootout win against Charlotte on May 25. This will be their second meeting with Spokane this season, having suffered a 1-0 defeat to Velocity in USL League One play on March 23.
“We’re a different team now, a completely different team. We’re a team that’s just getting stronger and stronger,” Zayed said.
In their last match, at Richmond on June 22, Hailstorm recorded their second clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 win.
“I’m hoping for another clean sheet to be honest,” Hailstorm goalkeeper Lalo Delgado said. “But the biggest thing right now is the win.”
A fifth straight win in regulation would match the club record set in August and September 2023.
